Description

TUCSON, AZ — The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for much of Southern Arizona Tuesday, including the Phoenix metro area. The Valley is forecast to see gusty winds and very low humidity Tuesday. The area already has large amounts of dry vegetation, and these factors will all contribute to the fire danger, the weather service said. The weather service issued the red flag warning in Phoenix for 2-8 p.m. Tuesday. A red flag warning means that hazardous fire weather conditions are happening now or are expected to develop, according to the National Weather Service. Phoenix was expected to see west winds of 15-25 mph Tuesday, with the potential for gusts between 35-40 mph, and relative humidity as low as 5 percent. The high on Tuesday was expected to be around 97 degrees with an overnight low around 63. The Phoenix Fire Department reminded Phoenicians on Tuesday never to park their cars in or near dry grass; to throw away cigarettes in dirt, not vegetation; not to burn household trash, plastic or tires and not to drag chains from a vehicle.
