PARA spokeswoman Becky Booker said the celebration is free, open to the public and will be held off-site in the Sokol Park North Complex in the area of the soccer fields. BAMA Snow and Yellowhammer Concessions will be set up offering food and beverages, with the proceeds from the cash sales benefitting future park development. The $1.5 million first phase of the playground project debuted this time last year, while Booker said funds are still being raised for the second phase. Work on Phase Two, she said, is expected to begin in 2023. Representatives of the Hank Poore Foundation, including Kathy Poore and Hank Poore, will also present a financial gift toward Phase Two in the form of a large, ceremonial check.
