This is a reply to an email I got, so if it offends any of you, just move along. Mr. P concerning your comment "Then there shouldn't be any two or three standards, just one for all. So from that when will they start gathering up those who committed crimes in the BLM movement? Should they be punished for setting buildings on fire, people's homes, looting, and even some deaths of people??" I learned long ago that both parties when cornered will play the "two wrongs make a right" card. Case in point when President Clinton got exposed for letting Monica give him a B-J, Democrats did not know what to say. People like me looked at it like if Clintons own wife can't trust him, why should voters? Then it came to light that Newt Gingrich had been cheating on his cancer stricken wife, and while she was laying in a hospital bed, he visited her and said he wanted a divorce. Sure that was also scummy, but it was a separate issue. None the less democrats used that wrong to defend Clinton's wrong. During the BLM protest of 2020 around 14,000 people WERE arrested nation wide, about 95% of them for petty crimes like trespassing or curfew violations. But also starting the nights of some protest and then even months later as people were identified, about 5% WERE arrested for serious crimes like looting and arson. When the video of G Floyd first appeared all the news was showing was 3 minutes of it, and I waited to make up my mind when more information came in. Then more information came in, the entire 10 minutes of video showing the cop kneeling on his neck for over 8 minutes. The Conservative media took the stance that Floyd was a drug addict and probably would have died of a heart attack the next day any way, as a way to defend the cop's actions. Yea, that was the conservative Christian view. I disagree with that, and so did the trainee Officer Chauvin had for a partner. I feel sorry for the trainee, he had only been on the job 3 days and tried to get Chauvin to stop kneeling on Floyds neck, now he is facing years if not life in prison for not stopping Chauvin, his boss. When the BLM protest started in 2020 I give most cops credit for standing back and watching, but after a couple of nights we learned some protestors did not give a crap about Floyd, and saw the protest as a way to loot stores easily. I don't know what the numbers are, so I'll guess 60% of protestors were peaceful, 25% wanted revenge, and 15% wanted to loot. The looters knew if they got distractions started in one place with the people that wanted revenge like setting a cop car on fire, they could loot a store a few blocks away. Cops figured that out quickly enough and arrest were made. During the BLM protest cops often used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse even peaceful protestors. In some cases police used tear gas to disperse peaceful protestors because they were still there 5 minutes after curfew. In other cases cops arrested people that were not even part of the protest, they were just simply going home from work or lived in the area and accidentally got caught up in the mess. I even saw a few cases in some cities were cops arrested black news reporters that had their credentials displayed. Those cases were quickly dropped. The cops in Washington D.C. were some of the most aggressive in dealing with protestors, peaceful or otherwise. In some cases like Richmond VA in 2020 the cops figured out it wasn't BLM protestors breaking store windows and setting fires, it was right wing extremist that infiltrated the group to make them look worse. Yes, some antifa people did the same thing at right wing rallies and protest, but 2 wrongs does not make a right. As for did any BLM protestors kill anyone? Some people did die, and when caught the suspects were arrested, charged and convicted. Some cases are still open. For instance the people that set fire to the Wendy's in South Atlanta were finally caught and charged. The guy that shot and killed the child driving by in a car was caught and charged. I know in some cities there were murders near where people were protesting, but they were separate issues. But the right-wing media falsely tied them to the nearby protest. In other cases it was right wing counter protestors that killed BLM people they confronted. In some cases the deaths were self defense, Rittenhouse. In others they were accidental like when a FedX truck ran over a protestor. People also died at right wing protest. Yes some police officers were injured, but none were murdered at any protest. This is a situation where you need to do your own research, because the right wing media will not report anything that doesn't fit their narrative, just like the liberal media. Try searching BLM protest deaths? There were around 800 people arrested during some of the protest or once identified arrested within months after the protest that were charged with serious crimes like arson. Those people have been sentenced to hard time. CNN barely covered that, and Fox never covered it that I know of. It did not fit their agenda. Moving on to January 6, 2021 I had been keeping up with most of President Trumps tweets after the election and knew something not good was probably going to happen. The FBI also kept up with that and other social media and knew how bad the Stop the Steal rally was probably going to be. They denied knowing anything immediately afterwards, but new information quickly came out they lied about how much they knew. When the Trump supporters arrived at the Capitol Building and started aggressively confronting police no tear gas was used, no rubber bullets fired. For some reason the DC police and Capitol Hill Police seemed to be completely caught off guard, even though they had access to the same information as the FBI. We now know the reason the local National Guard was not already on hand that day, and it had nothing to do with Nancy Pelosi. On January 6, 52 people were detained by the police, while others simply walked out of the Capitol Building carrying stolen souvenirs like a podium or laptop. Thousands of others just simply walked away. There is a massive difference between how the BLM protestors were treated in Washington D.C. just 6 months earlier, and how the insurgents were dealt with. Or should I say not dealt with? We now know on January 6 that Trump did sit in front of the TV watching the protest and gloating. We know numerous people tried to get him to send out a tweet or anything to stop the Siege. We now know even Sean Hannity was one of the people that contacted Trump asking him to do something to stop his supporters. Hannity never talks about that. On January 7, 2021 the right wing media started damage control. For the next month several Conservative media outlets including Hannity played the 10 seconds of Trumps speech from the first few minutes of it where he said to "go peacefully to protest." They played that 10 seconds over and over and over. But they never once played any of the parts of Trumps speech where he said things like “And we fight. We fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.” Then in February of 2021 the Conservative media played the "2 wrongs make a right" card, and started comparing the Siege on our Capitol to the BLM protest. Distraction? As far as my opinion goes, and I believe history will agree, there is absolutely no comparison to a bunch of black people burning some cop cars, or even looting stores because a police office murdered a black man, as opposed to our own sitting President sending his white supporters to the Capitol Building to execute his own Vice President to prevent him from certifying an election that was proven to be the most secure in history thanks to 2 and 3 recounts and audits. I base my opinion that the Trump supporters would have murdered our Vice President on the videos I have seen of them roaming the Halls of our Capitol Building chanting "Hang Mike Pence." Yes there was some fraud in that election. Trump claims 5,000 dead people in Georgia voted. Our Secretary of State Raffensperger, a republican Trump supporter, has proof it was only 5 dead peoples identity that was used by relatives to fraudulently obtain an Absentee Ballot. Trump claimed 66,000 minors voted in Georgia, our SOS said not 1 minor voted. Several hundred 17 year old's whose birthday was on November 3 were allowed to register to vote and then vote only on November 3 once they were 18. Thanks to our secure system of voter ID, they could not early vote. I would appreciate it if no one flag's this post until the person it is intended for reads it. Then I hope he will reply here. CL Politics and Rants and Raves used to be a fun place, let's make it so once again!
