NORTH HAVEN, CT — An East Haven man is accused of burglarizing a restaurant in North Haven and trying to break into another one last year, according to police.
Police said Edward Carlona, 47, tried to break into the Sing Hee Restaurant on Middletown Avenue around 3 a.m. on July 26, 2019. He used a pry-bar to try to open the front entry door but stopped after 20 minutes and left the parking lot, according to police.
Police found that on Sept. 9, 2019, Carlona forced his way into the Breakfast Nook on Washington Avenue and stole about $150 from the cash register.
Carlona was arrested on a warrant Aug. 20 and charged with third-degree attempted burglary, criminal trespass, third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and criminal mischief. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 31.
Carlona was also arrested June 29 on charges that he burglarized the Formosa Asian Fusion restaurant on Middletown Avenue on Aug. 4, 2019. Police secured an arrest warrant with the assistance of the Connecticut State Forensic Laboratory, according to officials. Carlona is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26 for that case, according to state judicial records.
