NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two teens have been arrested in connection with the theft of a gun from a North Haven home this past spring, according to police.
The homeowner reported his .40-caliber Glock handgun was missing from his gun safe. Following interviews of family members, detectives found that a juvenile in the home was involved in the theft, according to police.
Police said the homeowner's son got into the gun safe and gave the gun to a friend. The friend then took the gun and gave it to a person he only knew by a street name for "future discounted rates on drug purchases," according to police.
The gun hasn't been recovered and police are continuing to investigate, according to officials.
The boys, who are both 17 but were 16 at the time of the incident, have been arrested. One was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, stealing a firearm and illegal possession of a weapon. The other teen was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and stealing a firearm.
Police said the teen who gave the gun to the person he only knew by a street name was arrested in April for a "stabbing during a drug deal gone wrong."
