Lexington Playcare Center (LPC) is looking for a nurturing, joyful person to join our staff. Are you passionate about children? Are you eager to learn all that you can about how young brains develop, including the newest research and best practice? We are searching for a new member of our team who is excited to learn and grow, who can teach us, and who embraces the process of learning together. About us:Our staff is made up of 16 innovative educators, many of whom have been here for over 10 years. We agree that strong relationships are the building blocks of learning. We agree that our curriculum must be child-driven and developmentally appropriate. We are collaborative and look for ways to support and to empower each other as well as the children, and to remain curious and excited about our work. About our program:LPC is a non-profit early childhood program that was established in 1984 and is licensed to care for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners. During normal times we enroll 55 children and during the pandemic 44. Our program is open year round, from 7am - 6pm normally, and 8am - 5pm during Covid-19. We are located on the first floor of the Church of Our Redeemer. Our six classrooms have lovely big windows full of natural light and our playground has been designed with inspiration from nature! We are one block from the MBTA bus line and are within walking distance of Lexington Center. The ratios in our program are excellent and are even better during a pandemic - 6 or 7 toddlers in a group with 3 teachers, 7 or 8 preschoolers with 2 or 3 teachers, and 11 kindergarteners with 2 teachers. About the position:We have two options - both could begin soon.A) Per Diem. This option would require you to work mostly full time for one month while you train with us. After that you would be on-call, sometimes working a whole week, and other times just a day or two - dependent on when we need coverage for our permanent staff.B) Full time. This option is a full time position, 8 hours per day, with benefits. Monday through Friday, 8-4, 8:30-4:30 or 9-5, depending on the needs of the program. About compensation:The salary for this position is commensurate with your education and experience. An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a related field) or a Bachelor Degree brings you to the top of our pile. You must also have at least one year of group care experience. Candidates also must pass a CORI/DSS/SORI criminal background check and submit fingerprints via the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
