Description
We are moving cross country, and believe it’s best to find our beloved MeiMei (pronounced MayMay) a new home as we move into a new lifestyle (several years earlier than planned) where we will be handling new obligations and will be away from home more. We love this dog and giving her up will be hard to do. MeiMei is a kind hearted 6.5 yr old, 73 lb spayed female AKC black Labrador. We bought her as a puppy, and she has been our mostly indoor companion for her entire life. She is high energy, loves her walks, loves swimming, and loves being anywhere we are. Most of her days have been spent in our family room and kitchen area. She is very smart, is very routine oriented and loves to anticipate what her family is going to do next. She prefers people to other dogs. She is generally submissive and sensitive to discipline. While she is polite about taking people food, she is protective of her own. MeiMei has hunting genes that she cannot suppress, which makes her a great dog in open spaces but a persistent puller on the leash as she is excited about all the sights and smells around her. She is very excited about going for rides, mostly in anticipation of getting out to see and smell new things. She loves finding and chasing rabbits but wouldn’t harm one if she caught it. She responds to the commands of: here, sit, stay, no, up, lay down, kennel. She knows heel and hates doing it. She does not eat from her bowl until we say OK. She knows a lot of words we use around the house that give her clues about what’s happening next. A new owner should plan to give her regular attention and provide her with opportunities to run. MeiMei needs her annual shots including a rabies vaccination. She is in excellent health. Her joints are good, and she gets her vet checkup every year. Our annual vet expenses have been about $175, and shots are due soon. We would have the new owner pay for her vet checkup and shots as a gesture of true interest in her. She had two cracked upper molars removed last year from chewing too many nylon bones. We have a large plastic crate, an electric dog fence, an electronic field dog collar, bowls, leash, brush, harness, nail grinder (which she doesn’t mind). She is chipped, and all vet, licensing, and AKC records go with the dog. We will be sad to see her go, but believe it’s the best for her as we make this move several years earlier than we had planned. Anyone interested should email us with any questions they have. If still interested then we would have our own questions and would talk by phone before meeting to let you get to know MeiMei.
