We are seeking highly motivated folks looking for a unique summer job to work on our farm! Old Mill Farm in Durham is hosting a Summer Camp for children ages 5-12 years old and we are in need of counselors who don’t mind getting their hands dirty with the kids! Our summer camp is unique in the fact that it is held on a 4 acre farm. Children and counselors alike will join in on farm chores on a daily basis to learn more about how to care for our goats, chickens, alpacas, and bunny rabbits. We will also have activities such as fishing, foraging for bugs, and camp classics such as capture the flag and tye dying shirts mixed into the fun! This camp is best suited for those who want to learn more about farm animals and who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. The ideal candidate would have the following skills and attributes: - Demonstrated ability leading and engaging in camp programming for groups of 6-12 children aged 5-12. - Experience handling and caring for livestock in a farm setting. - Willingness to engage in the fun of camp right alongside the kids to keep them excited and involved while learning new skills and experiencing new activities - Experience spending long periods of time outdoors. Camping, hiking, and backpacking experience is a bonus. - Willingness, and more importantly, the desire to learn new things and experience new activities. The ideal candidate will have the following work experience: - 2 years spent as a summer camp counselor or as an educator in a classroom setting. - At least 1 year of experience as a summer camper. The candidate has attended summer camp at some point in their life. - At least 1 year handling livestock, and more importantly, ruminants. - CPR/AED certified. - First Aid training.
