NEWTOWN, CT — The police have reported the theft, and recovery, of a vehicle overnight into Wednesday.
Police say someone drove away with an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home on Church Hill Road in Redding, near the Newtown County Line. The motorist then used the vehicle to drive around and find seven more unlocked vehicles within the Redding Ridge area, which were then burglarized.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered by the Newtown Police Department, according to Redding Chief Mark O'Donnell.
O'Donnell urged all residents not to be an easy target, and to lock their vehicles and report any suspicious activity to the police department.
Southwest Connecticut has been plagued with vehicle thefts and burglaries regularly, and for years. In most incidents, the vehicles had been left unlocked by their owners.
