Description

Help us understand the trends and patterns of bird-window collisions at the University of Arkansas so we can make our campus safe for birds Enjoy walks? Enjoy keeping birds safe? Sign up for a bird walk to help us understand patterns of bird-window collisions at the University of Arkansas so we can make our campus bird safe! Window collisions 1 billion birds a year in the US, but there are measures we can put in place to lower these numbers. With the Bird-Safe Glass Initiative, volunteers can sign up for scheduled walks to walk around buildings on campus to look for dead/injured birds. Collision data collected by volunteers will allow us to make midigation recommendations to the University that specific target buildings with high bird collision rates. These walks will reoccur every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 AM-9 AM between April 18th and May 13th. We will meet by the fountain in front of the Student Union before all walks. Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can leave by 8! Please register for walks in advance and feel free to email Erin Sauer ([email protected]) with any questions/concerns.
