Found! I was walking on union and baker today and found 6 clearly stolen and now discarded backpacks. I was able to reunite 5 backpacks via nancy drew like investigations and persistence (including calling a friend in china to call a Chinese # to reach the guy whose passport I held!) most had the money and laptops stolen I’m afraid.
