HINGHAM, MA — The new Weir River Water System has instituted a mandatory Level II total outdoor water ban in Hingham, Hull and North Cohasset after officials said the available water level supplies have reached "a critical state."
The town officially took over the water system last week.
Officials said the decision was made based on drought conditions and the need to conserve and maintain water supply and service.
The Level II ban prohibits all non-essential outdoor usage, such as automatic sprinklers, car-washing, washing exteriors of buildings, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and filling swimming pools.
Officials said monitors will be out to ensure compliance to the new restrictions.
