NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged with fentanyl distribution after selling the drug to members of an FBI task force, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut said. On Wednesday, a federal grand jury in New Haven charged Nelson Santini, 27, with one count of distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl. On Aug. 13, 2021, members of the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force bought around 50 grams of fentanyl from Santini, the U.S. Attorney's Office said court documents and statements made in court allege. Santini was arrested on April 6 and has been detained ever since, the Attorney's Office said. If convicted of the charge, he would face between five and 40 years in prison.
