TOMS RIVER, NJ — The Ocean County Board of Commissioners tentatively decided not to force Administrator Carl W. Block into retirement at the end of June, according to a report.
The 70-year-old is the longest-serving county administrator in county history, a report by Asbury Park Press reporter Erik Larsen said. Earlier this year, a majority of commissioners told Block they wouldn't support him being reappointed to the position, the report said.
Block asked the board to grant him an extension, which state law does not permit, Larsen reported. Last week, the board decided Block may remain on without a contract as a transitional period, the report said.
