**News Release submitted by Danbury Republican Town Committee who is responsible for its content** Michelle Coelho, Republican candidate for the State Senate in the 24th District, today blasted her Democrat opponent, Sen. Julie Kushner for championing legislation which will kill Connecticut jobs and further burden state business owners. Coelho believes Kushner's backing of anti-CT business bill "shows why we desperately need a new state senator for greater Danbury" The legislation in question, Senate Bill 317, would allow strikers to collect Connecticut unemployment benefits. No state in the country, except for New York, allows actively striking workers to receive unemployment benefits. During the April 13 debate in the State Senate, various Republicans described SB 317 as "absurd", "illogical", and among the most "anti-business" bills they had ever seen. Kushner was also criticized on the Senate floor for being unable to answer questions related to the bill's details. "How anti-business can we get in this state?" Coelho asked. "Sen. Kushner's extreme-left wing economic vision is apparently to pay people not to work. She wants to subsidize strikes with our taxpayer dollars. How tone-deaf to the concerns of businesses can we get? "The voters of greater Danbury have a clear choice for state senator this November. Either stick with Julie Kushner, who will continue to impose hardships on job creators and crush potential economic growth, or elect a businesswoman who understands and listens to the private sectors challenges." "As your State Senator, I will work tirelessly to make Connecticut more affordable. This bill is a prime example of the difference between myself and Sen. Kushner. You better believe I will be talking to Democrats, Independents, and Republicans about that difference from now until Election Day. If you are sick and tired of having an extreme left-wing state senator as your voice in Hartford, I am asking for your support and your vote." Coelho, a first-generation Cuban American who moved to Danbury over 20 years ago, is a full-time project manager and developer with 30 years of experience in oversight and construction planning. She currently serves on the Danbury Board of Education. The 24th District includes Danbury, New Fairfield and Ridgefield. **News Release submitted by Danbury Republican Town Committee who is responsible for its content**
