2 Cape May County Residents Charged With Distributing Narcotics

LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two Cape May County residents were charged with distributing narcotics, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Kevin Lewis announced Monday. Yenmarie Soto-Maldonado, 35, and Miguel Rivera, 32, both of the Villas section of Lower Township, were charged after the conclusion of a narcotics investigation into cocaine distribution in Cape May County, the Prosecutor's Office said. The two were the investigation's target. On April 13, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, the Cape May County Sheriff's Office, the Lower Township Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) along with the assistance of the Cape May County Regional SWAT team executed a court-authorized search warrant into Soto-Maldonado's home at the 100 East block of Wilde Avenue in Lower Township. About three ounces of cocaine and over 600 prescription pills were seized by authorities at Soto-Maldonado's home. The street value of these items is about $7,500, the Prosecutor's Office said. Soto-Maldonado and River were both charged with third degree possession of CDS, second degree distribution of CDS, fourth degree possession/distribution of drug paraphernalia, second degree possession of prescription legend drug and third degree possession of schedule I, II, III, IV drugs. Soto-Maldonado was lodged at Cape May County Correctional Center. Rivera was released on a summons. Anyone convicted of second-degree crimes are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, Sutherland said. Sutherland said that his office will continue to work hand in hand with federal partners and the local municipalities to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
