The River District is a charming neighborhood that follows the curves of the Trinity River and winds around toward River Oaks and into Lake Worth. Trail access is easy for hikers, bikers and dog walkers. Along certain parts of the trail, the skyline of downtown peers through with wide open skies surrounding it. I get to see amazing sunrises and sunsets along the flat trails, or I sometimes take an adventure up and down the rocks of Marion Sansom Park.
I love taking my dogs Morty and Brunello with my fiance, Abigaile, on part of the Trinity Trails that ends up at Heim BBQ for a beer and a break before heading home. There's also some really wonderful local businesses that create the small neighborhood vibe. The curated selection of thrifted Texas items at Honeysuckle Rose or the unique, handcrafted items of The Roadrunner Stop are always a treat to see.
I also like to take my dogs to see Augi at the El Compadre food truck for some delicious tacos.
