LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ —After a long wait, New Jersey announced last week that recreational marijuana will go on sale to adults on Thursday. Lawrence-township-based Zen Leaf will begin the sale of adult-use marijuana on Thursday, a company spokesperson confirmed. The company plans a launch that day.
Recreational marijuana will also be sold at Zen Leaf's Elizabeth location.
The legal sales come just over a year after lawmakers passed legislation to let people over 21 buy the drug without a medical card.
Verano, which operates Zen Leaf, is among seven companies that received tentative approval to sell recreational marijuana to consumers.
Verano is the sole operator currently permitted to participate in the initial rollout of personal use sales throughout the state's Central Region, the company said.
Those who received approval will be able to cultivate cannabis, manufacture cannabis products, and conduct retail sales to the general public.
Zen Leaf is located at 3256 Brunswick Pike, Lawrence Township.
