Here are the top five stories in Sacramento today: Sherri Papini, the woman accused of faking her own kidnapping in 2016, officially pled guilty Monday in a courtroom in Sacramento via Zoom, of mail fraud and making false statements to federal officials. She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11. When Senior U.S. District Judge William Shubb asked Papini if she was kidnapped, she responded, "No, your honor." Judge Shubb asked Papini how she felt today. She said, "I'm sorry, your honor. I'm sad. I feel very sad, your honor. I feel very sad." (KCRA3)Earth Day is Apr. 22, and Sacramento Regional Transit will offer system-wide free rides to celebrate. According to the press release from SacRT, the free rides will be available to travel on all buses, light rail, SmaRT Ride shuffles, and SacRT GO Paratransit Services shuffles during regular hours. (CBS Sacramento) The last two locations of Sacramento County's Project Roomkey, which were originally slated to have staggered ramp downs of April 15 and May 30, are being extended to ensure safe and stable exits for participants. DHA will be extending the leases with the Vagabond to June 30 and the Comfort Inn to Aug. 31. There are currently 230 guests still living in these two locations and County DHA staff and Rehousing Navigation and Flexible Housing Fund staff are actively working the PRK sites with the participants to stay active with the housing process. (Press Release Desk)Thousands of Sutter Health nurses and healthcare workers staged a strike Monday at 15 facilities across Northern California, including locations in Sacramento and Roseville. The one-day strike is over staffing and pandemic-related protocols, according to the California Nurses Association. At least 200 nurses were at the corner of North Sunrise Avenue and East Roseville Parkway by 9:30 a.m. Monday. Most wore red CNA shirts.
