PITTSBURGH, PA — After a shooting rampage early Sunday that left two teens dead and eight others wounded by gunfire on the city's North Side, police are searching for suspects and the Pittsburgh Public Schools are on modified lockdown today.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the dead teens as Matthew Steffy-Ross and Jaiden Brown, both 17.
Two other shooting victims remain hospitalized.
Several Pittsburgh Public Schools students were injured in the incident, which prompted the lockdown mode today. Anyone without a prior appointment in a district building will not be admitted.
The shooting occurred at a large party that was being held at a short-term rental property, with as many as 200 people in attendance - many of them underage. Police received ShotSpotter alerts for at least 90 rounds being fired inside and around the home, prompting people to jump out of the windows, some breaking bones and suffering lacerations.
Authorities urge people with information about the shooting to contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7161. Relevant videos, photos or other files can be uploaded at this link.
