ST. CHARLES, IL — A drop in revenue during the pandemic is partially to blame for the closing of a longtime performing arts school in St. Charles. Vero Voce Theater School of Performing Arts in St. Charles, which opened in 2001 will be shutting its doors for good at the end of May, the Kane County Chronicle is reporting. When it comes to instructing voice lessons and teaching musical instruments to children, in-person is the best so switching to Zoom instruction was not beneficial during the pandemic, Vero Voce owner Dennis Brown told the Kane County Chronicle. "Parents don't want their children to do Zoom. We actually kept our head above water by physically doing Zoom instruction in voice, piano and also the theater. But it's not the best in any way, shape or form as a long term prospect," he said. Brown owns Vero Voce with his wife, Dawn Hawkins.
