NEW MILFORD, CT — A New Milford nurse was honored on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Friday night and received a surprise visit from Adam Levine, along with $10,000. Samantha Brown, a wellness nurse at Maplewood in Newtown, appeared on the show's #HealthCareHero segment. During the quarantine, Kimmel is honoring those who are on the front line of the coronavirus crisis.
"We're a big family," Brown told Kimmel about the community at Maplewood, an assisted living facility for seniors. She said they have a great team and that helps keep them going through the crisis.
"All my co-workers, superiors, we're in it together," she said. "We've always had each other's backs and we really love these residents. These residents are our families."
Brown is also the mother of a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old.
Kimmel said they became aware of Brown from a portrait on Adobe's "Honor Heroes" program, which highlights artwork celebrating health care workers and other everyday heroes. Brown told Kimmel that her sister made the portrait from a Snap Chat message she sent her.
Kimmel told Brown they did some snooping around her profile and found that she is a huge fan of Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5 and former judge on NBC's "The Voice," before introducing Levine.
Levine joined Kimmel in telling Brown that Adobe arranged to give her $10,000 along with gift cards for food delivery to every nurse in her department.
