Established in 1969, Thorncroft is one of the premier Therapeutic Equestrian Centers in the United States. Thorncroft specializes in therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities (EAA) for both children and adults with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. Thorncroft is a mainstreaming facility where people with and without special needs come together to ride, learn and relate to one another. Thorncroft is currently seeking a Full-Time Barn Manager to manage the care of our herd of 35 lesson horses and ponies. Barn Manager will report to Executive Director and coordinate with Admissions Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Lead Instructor. Candidate must have a strong background in equine management and a team-oriented attitude. Duties of this position include: Coordinate daily barn operations and care of horses to include delivery of nutritional plan, veterinary needs and blacksmith scheduleMaintain and order all veterinary and health care supplies, feed and horse care related equipmentMaintain records for horse health care including blacksmith, dentist, vet, preventative medication and maintenance needs for all horsesMuck and bed stalls as neededSchedule and supervise adequate and efficient barn personnel including staff, volunteers and working studentsSupervise and assist as needed with lesson operations in the barn including students and volunteers preparing horses for lesson programSchedule coverage for weekends, holidays and special events Provide emergency assistance as neededMaintain an efficient, safe and healthy environment at Thorncroft Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
