BURNSVILLE, MN — The city is hosting a grand opening for the new Fire Station No. 1 on May 7.
The event will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and residents will get to tour the new facility, the city said.
Residents can tour training spaces and apparatus bays, meet the fire department and more, the city said. You can also explore the hydrant hose and water mister, ladder of trust, a search-and-find mural, a fire triangle and a special bench to commemorate the history of the Burnsville Fire Department, according to the city.
The Fire Station Plaza will also be open-it is an area the city with the first responders that serve residents, the city said.
The new fire station officially opened in mid-January and was built to prioritize the wellbeing of the city's firefighters and and paramedics, the city said. This was done by building:
