Aurora Math Academy Senior Named Science Scholar

AURORA, IL — A 16-year-old senior at Aurora's Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy has been recently named a scholar by the Society of Science. Siddharth Tiwari is one of the top 300 students named in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, a prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors, according to a news release. The scholars were selected from 1,804 applications received from 603 high schools across 46 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and eight other countries. Officials said students were chosen based on "exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists as demonstrated through the submission of their original, independent research projects, essays and recommendation." Tiwari's project was titled "On the Relationship Between Pain Variability and Relief in Randomized Clinical Trials." By winning, the 300 scholars and their schools will each be awarded $2,000. The scholars represent 185 American and international high schools in 37 states, China, Switzerland and Singapore. Three homeschooled kids were also chosen, according to the release.
