Description

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A man was struck and killed by a train Monday afternoon at the 14th Street and Sixth Avenue station in Lower Manhattan, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. The 29-year-old jumped in front of an oncoming L train around 3:11 p.m., the NYPD said. To allow emergency responders space to properly address the situation, L trains are delayed and there is limited service on the line between Lorimer Street and Eighth Avenue, the MTA said. For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, the MTA recommends taking the 3, A, C, J, or M train. The MTA is tweeting updates about the incident, which you can follow along with here. If you or someone you know is considering suicide, there are resources to help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255. Its website offers services including a live chat. This is a developing story, please check back in for updates.
