As the assistant to the Fence Foreman, the Fence Helper's job is to ensure that each fence installation or other service is performed to meet the standards of National Construction Rentals, Inc. (NCR) and the customer’s expectations in an environment that ensures the safety of the customer and all NCR personnel. The Fence Helper must represent the company in a friendly and professional manner. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Essential Functions: Inspect and test the vehicle and equipment daily to ensure it operates safely and correctly. Ensure truck is loaded with all necessary equipment and materials to complete all work assigned for the day and the load is correctly secured. Report to assigned job with Foreman and meet with the customer to review job. Set fence poles, install fence, and pull fence to NCR specifications. Ensure job site is free of debris and all equipment is on the truck upon job completion. Clean the truck and restock needed materials for future fence installations. Perform duties safely at all times, maintain safe and clean and safe work area, and attend all tailgate and trimester/quarterly safety meetings. Perform other duties and/or tasks as instructed and assigned. Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record within company guidelines. A forklift certification and DOT medical card will be provided after hire. Must pass drug screen. Education and Experience: High School diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) preferred, or one to two years related experience or training. Skills and Abilities: Requires working from detailed instructions and occasional independent decision-making. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedural manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Licenses/Certificates/Registrations: Must have a valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record within company guidelines. Positions that require driving a vehicle with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. or more requires the incumbent to be at least 21 years old and possess a DOT medical card. A forklift certification will be provided after hire. Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Conditions involve working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, long periods of driving and walking; occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking and hearing/listening, working in high precarious places. The nature of the work is extremely physical, which requires frequent holding, pulling or pushing up to 100 lbs. Fence helpers are exposed to working with and around moving and vibrating mechanical parts, and working in high precarious places. Work involves exposure to loud machine, vehicle, and building construction noise.
