NEW LONDON, CT — The local cops called in the state police tactical team to help out with a standoff on Gordon Court early Saturday morning. First stop for the New London police was a residence in the area of Crescent Street and Riverview Avenue around 9:45 Friday night, for a reported assault with a weapon. The first responders found a man who "sustained laceration and puncture wounds to the areas of his upper front and rear torso," according to the police report. After tending to the man's wounds, police arranged for the victim's transport to Lawrence+Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Further investigation led police to Daniel Quinones, 38, at a residence on Gordon Court. As police attempted to make contact with Quinones around 12:21 Saturday morning, they say the suspect "quickly barricaded himself inside said residence and then threatened his own well-being and the safety of officers on scene." Police evacuated neighboring homes, and established a perimeter around the area. After an "extended period of unsuccessful communication" with no resolution, the NLPD reached out to the Connecticut State Police and their tactical team. With the troopers' assistance, the local police were able to secure Quinones "without further incident" and transport him to Lawrence+Memorial Hospital for treatment at around 7:30 a.m. The investigation remains active. The New London Police Department is urging anyone who has information and/or video concerning these incidents to contact them at 860-447-5269 ext. 0 or anonymous information may be submitted via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).
