Description

Hello! Are you ready to become immersed in all things guitar? Are you looking to eventually record your own music? Standard Rates: Guitar - $40 for 30min, $60 for 1 hour - Lessons can either be at my home studio or I can travel WITHIN SEATTLE PROPER ONLY Recording 101 - $60 for 1 hour (minimum) - Lessons would need to be done at my home studio due to working with specific recording gear that I own. Current Availability (subject to change): Mon/Wed: 5:30pm - 8:30pm Sat/Sun: 12pm - 4pm **If none of these time frames work out, please reach out directly and we'll figure something out! About Me: I am an experienced musician and audio engineer of about 20 years with about 5 years experience with teaching. I have a degree in audio production as well. I've taught guitar classes of 20+ kids in after-school programs from ages of 5 years old to 18 years old. I've also had older students as well. ALL AGES WELCOMED. LGBTQ+ Friendly! Guitar Lessons: My main goal is to ensure my students are engaged and excited about learning guitar. My style of teaching is a bit unorthodox and informal but it'll get you fast results with gaining the dexterity needed, developing muscle memory to play all your favorite tunes, and seriously developing your ear and what you hear with the guitar and music. I'll touch base on just enough theory to give you a good understanding on how music is all connected (but not too much to overwhelm you). After learning the basics, I like to start out by teaching a song my student thoroughly enjoys (within reason of complexity of course!). If a difficult song is chosen, it could become a good goal to get to while we hammer out the basics and work up to that level of complexity. I specialize in classic rock artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and many, many more but I can play and teach just about everything. Everyone has a different way they learn and I am quick to find what works for everyone. Recording 101: The main goal of learning to record is to understand the foundations of sound structure and how Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) work. Too often do musicians become inspired to record, only to be bogged down by the intense technical process that comes with recording music properly. This is the biggest discouragement to recording your music. My goal is to make this process fun and enjoyable and also not stressful by any means. We will go over gain structure, microphone placements, equipment usage, editing techniques, mixing techniques, mastering, and gain a good understanding on how software works. Keep in mind this is NOT an advance class. Anyone with knowledge of the above should look elsewhere if they are looking to expand their recording knowledge. I'd highly recommend having access to a computer, purchasing a simple audio interface, a microphone, a thumb drive, and some software to reinforce and practice what we learn (there's a lot of free software out there too). I can recommend gear before we start as well. The end goal would be for you to be comfortable with working with simple recording software to record your own music and know how to troubleshoot issues when things go wrong. I can combine guitar and recording lessons too (30 min guitar, 30 min recording, or 1 hour of recording one week, guitar the other) but they would need to be done in my home studio. My home studio is in a quiet neighborhood in East Capitol Hill. Parking is friendly and easy in the area. For parents dropping their kid off, there is a coffee shop downstairs as well as a few restaurants if you'd like to wait in the area. Volunteer Park is just a quick drive/walk away as well. Please reach out if any of this interests you or if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
