BAY SHORE, NY — After four months of being closed down, the Westfield South Shore in Bay Shore announced on Friday that it will be reopening next week. The news come after Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated on Wednesday that malls will now be allowed to reopen under phase 4 under specific guidelines. As a result, the local mall on Sunrise Highway as well as the Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa will open its doors on July 15. The centers will have modified hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. "We look forward to opening our doors again to the Long Island community," Noe Dileo, shopping center manager, said. "As we take this next step in our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we will work closely with local officials to ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment for our customers, tenants and employees." The new practices that will be implemented at the two Long Island centers include: Increasing the frequency of cleaning measures following CDC and local health department guidelines, with a focus on high-touch areas.Monitoring and controlling the number of guests entering the centers and crowds in dwell areas and queuing lines.Implementing and enforcing relevant policies related to social distancing, face masks and other preventative measures.Providing an increased number of hand sanitizer stations. The center will continue to offer curbside pick-up as will offer a new "Answers on the Spot program" to provide a real-time response via text or webchat during business hours to answer questions about store and center hours, promotions, and other topics. Further information on each center can be found by visiting Westfield Sunrise and Westfield South Shore websites.
