They start laying eggs at 6 weeks. Button quail are about the size of a parakeet, ground dwelling and kind of like baby chickens that never grow up. They are very quiet with a cute little peep. I bought them in a rabbit hutch which is working great. Unfortunately they have set off my allergies so I can't even hear properly. Button quail are social and die if left alone so all need to go to the same home. They are so much fun to watch and see them try new foods. Button quail are $2 each rehoming but if you want the cage for $60, the 3 quail babies are free. I can send the Amazon link showing it for sale at $78. If you have been thinking of getting chickens, this is the very small scale trial. Button quail also do very well with your backyard chickens or parrot/bird aviary and are extremely quiet with sweet little peeps. 2 are dark brown and one is more white.
