FRAMINGHAM, MA — The rate of new coronavirus cases in Framingham has hit a high point since the resurgence of the virus here in August, although the city remains in a lower-risk category in a weekly state Department of Public Health (DPH) report. Over the past two weeks, Framingham was adding 23.1 new cases per day per 100,000 people. That's the highest rate dating back to late August, when Framingham was first added to the state's high-risk list. On Friday, city officials announced 69 new cases had been detected since Wednesday. DPH revised its metrics last week, removing Framingham from the list of high-risk communities in Massachusetts. Framingham is now deemed a yellow "moderate" risk community. The city would need to see a positive coronavirus test rate above 4 percent to move back onto the high-risk list — that rate was at 3.24 percent as of Thursday.
