FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham passed another milestone in the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday: more than 3,000 residents have contracted the virus dating back to March. Framingham added 63 new cases since Monday, the city reported, and more than 150 cases since Friday alone. The pandemic total stood at 3,055 on Wednesday. It took Framingham only a few months to cross the 3,000-case threshold. The city marked 2,000 cases at the end of August. The 1,000th case was recorded in early May. Out of the 3,055 people who have tested positive, 155 have died. There are also 383 active cases in the city right now. The state Department of Public Health will release its weekly report on coronavirus risk in individual communities on Thursday. Framingham was not on the high-risk list as of last Thursday, but could be added if the city's positive test rate rises above 4 percent. The rate was at about 3.25 percent as of Monday.
