Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Bay Shore Hit-And-Run

BAY SHORE, NY — Suffolk Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash involving a rental car in Bay Shore on Saturday. Antonio Gustavo Lopez-Alvarez, 27, of Far Rockaway, was crossing the highway when he was hit by the driver of a rented 2020 Nissan Altima just east of the 5th Avenue bridge. The rental car driver, which was heading west, fled the scene on foot. Lopez-Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has not yet been identified or arrested. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the case to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
