BAY SHORE, NY — A man was arrested after driving drunk with a child in the front seat of his car in Bay Shore last week, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said. On Sept. 3 at 11:24 p.m., Raymond Laboy, 37, was pulled over at Union Boulevard east of Saxon Avenue for driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone and failing to stay in his lane, according to the Sheriff's Office. Laboy's speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his movements were unsteady, and there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, the Sheriff's Office said. Laboy was charged with violating the Child Passenger Protection Act, or "Leandra's Law," since he was driving with a 13-year old boy in the front seat, according to the sheriff. Laboy was also charged with aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful possession of marijuana and multiple traffic offenses.
