Press release from Danforth Art School at Framingham State University: The Danforth Art School at Framingham State University is moving its Summer Arts Program online, providing students with a wonderful creative outlet while they are stuck at home. Half-day options are available, with smaller class sizes in order to ensure each student receivesindividual attention from teachers as they create. "This is a great opportunity for children who need a creative outlet during this time at home,"says Danforth Art School Director Noelle Fournier. "Our teachers have put together lots ofexciting projects that the students will really enjoy." In keeping with the tradition of a Friday exhibition, each week will feature a video compilation ofworks created by students in each grade level, so that families can still appreciate the artisticaccomplishments of the students. Danforth will provide the specific art supplies children need to enjoy the fun lessons teachersare designing in a convenient, curb-side pick-up program, including a personalized portfolio foreach child. Program Description - Summer Arts Online: How Art Happened From cave paintings to cubism, humankind has made art to express feelings and ideas. Thissummer, Danforth Art school will look at the long timeline of art making through the ages tolearn about how and why different art forms were invented and also how various culturesinfluenced the many art movements we know of today. How was paint invented? Who made thefirst architecture? Why are some sculptures so big? Each week will be a new experience havingfun being inspired by different eras and art movements. Students in Grades 6-8 will enjoy classes designed around specific artistic materials andmethods such as Prints & Collage, Sculpture, Upcycled Fashion and Comics, Cartoons &Manga. Our High School classes allow for concentrated study and portfolio development in subjectssuch as Portrait & Figure Studies, Painting Techniques, and Fashion Illustration.
