ALL are welcome to this FREE dinner to honor the Islamic celebration of peace and the variety of cultures in High Point. All are invited to join us for a celebratory Ramadan dinner on April 30, 2002, starting at 7:30 p.m. This meal offers an opportunity for all of High Point to learn more about Islamic culture, while also strengthening our community through fellowship, understanding, and good food. Our goal is to deepen a sense of community in our international city across many cultures during this time of atonement and thanks. The main course of the meal will be catered; the rest of the meal is potluck-style, and attendees are encouraged, if able, to bring a small appetizer, side dish, or dessert. This event is co-presented by the Islamic Center of High Point and the High Point Human Relations Commission. Dinner will be held at the Roy B. Culler Senior Center, currently located at 921 Eastchester Dr. (Doors are accessible on the north side of the old Oak Hollow Mall.) Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. Muslims are called upon to make peace with those who have wronged them, strengthen ties with family and friends, stay away from bad habits — and to use this month to re-evaluate their lives in light of Islamic guidance. It is therefore a wonderful time for members of all our religious and cultural communities to engage in friendly table conversations and break bread together. Questions?
