FRAMINGHAM, MA — The latest production using Framingham as a shooting location is getting underway. Signs for a crew shooting the HBO Max show "Julia" went up in the downtown area this week, according to Downtown Framingham Inc. The show — about famed chef and honorary Bay-Stater Julia Child — will use the interior of the Arcade building, 150 Concord St. Residents may see Above the Line Production Rentals trucks downtown, and base camp signs. "Julia" was supposed to begin filming last spring, but the production was delayed due to coronavirus, according to Deadline. The series stars Sarah Lancashire as Julia Child and David Hyde Pierce as her husband, Paul Child. Co-stars include Bebe Neuwirth and Isabella Rossellini. The series will trace Child's life, including her show "The French Chef," which debuted on Boston's WGBH in 1963. This isn't Framingham's first closeup. The city was used as a backdrop for films including "Ted 2" and "Free Guy" starring Ryan Reynolds. Scenes in Sudbury native Chris Evans' Apple TV series "Defending Jacob" were also filmed in town.
