NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested on accusations that he robbed the Citizen's Bank on Forbes Street twice in less than a week. Around 6 a.m. Thursday, state Department of Correction Division of Parole officers and New Haven police took the suspect into custody at a Liberty Street apartment in the Hill neighborhood. Anthony Meizies, 49, was arrested as a parole violator and police plan to charge him in the two recent bank robberies. The bank was initially robbed Oct. 8, when a man entered the bank, approached a teller window, and handed the teller a robbery note. He left the bank with an undetermined amount of money. Then on Tuesday, a suspect fitting the same description entered the bank, acted as if he had a weapon, and demanded money from a teller. He again left the bank with an undetermined amount of money. Police seized two vehicles - a Ford Focus and an SUV - believed to be involved in the robberies. However, the drivers of those vehicles were not arrested.
