FRAMINGHAM, MA — An annual winter tradition for Wilson Elementary School students went ahead on Tuesday, with some 300 students receiving free winter coats.
The coats were purchased from the nonprofit Operation Warm by Exelon Generation, a power company that owns a small oil plant along Leland Street just south of Wilson. This is the 10th year Exelon has donated coats to Wilson students.
"For the past decade our students have benefited from this generous act of giving and while we're grateful to be thought of year after year, we're especially thankful this year during such challenging times," Wilson Principal Purnima DeMorais said in a statement.
Pennsylvania-based Operation Warm manufactures its own coats, which donors purchase and give to organizations that serve children.
