Join us at the Bayview Community Center on Monday, May 2 and help restore the watershed!
We Want to Hear From You!
The Carpenter Creek & Bayou Texar Watershed Management Planning Team invites you to an open house at 5:30 pm on Monday, May 2 at the Bayview Community Center. Rain or shine, we will be meeting to gather your input on concept plans for 15 key sites throughout the watershed, including three to-be-determined "catalytic sites."
Project Background
Since 2020, Escambia County has been working with WOOD PLC to develop the Carpenter Creek & Bayou Texar Watershed Management Plan (WMP). Funded by a federal RESTORE grant, the WMP will provide a roadmap for improving water quantity & quality, fish & wildlife habitat, public access & recreation, and community resiliency across the watershed.
Through analysis, modelling, and previous public engagement, the WMP Team has selected 15 key potential project sites throughout the watershed and developed a concept plan for each site. Collectively, these sites have the potential to improve the current and future state of the watershed. Of the 15 sites, three will be selected as catalytic sites and designed in more detail.
Please help us to determine which of the 15 sites are priorities for watershed restoration, public access, and recreation. We want to update the community on the team’s planning efforts, capture any missing programming or design elements, and understand which sites you feel have "catalytic" potential.
Event Details
The open house will be held at the Bayview Community Center (2000 Lloyd Street) from 5:30-7:00. Following a brief presentation from the project team, we will be breaking into small groups to discuss the concept plans and get your feedback. Refreshments will be provided and parking is available.
