FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham voters set new records in the 2020 election compared to other recent presidential elections, including the highest turnout dating back to 2004, according to ballot data. A total of 77.29 percent of Framingham's 41,685 registered voters cast a ballot in the 2020 presidential election, beating the previous high mark of 75.95 percent set in 2012. Also in 2020, the share of votes cast for a Democrat high a high mark at 73.29 percent — the first time that number has gone above 70 percent. The share of GOP votes increased by a hair from 23.52 percent in 2016 to 23.92 percent in 2020. But the share of GOP votes in Framingham in 2012, 2008 and 2004 were all above 30 percent.
