Description
FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham on Thursday opened bidding on environmental remediation at Mary Dennison Park, part of a major overhaul of the 15-acre Beaver Street site.
Framingham is seeking a project director to provide "planning, design, environmental remediation, construction, and overall renovation of Mary Dennison Park," according to the bidding documents.
The park used to be a dump site owned by Avery Dennison, and in 2014 lead and other heavy metals were discovered in the soil, slowing down renovation plans. In June, the firm Weston and Sampson presented plans for a renovation, including new sports fields, basketball courts, a playground, splash pad, a large gazebo and more.
In December, the Framingham City Council unanimously approved spending close to $20 million on the remediation and renovation.
