COLUMBIA, SC — The suspect in a shooting Saturday at Columbiana Centre mall in Columbia has received a $25,000 surety bond, according to Columbia Municipal Court records. Jewayne Price, who was one of three people initially detained in connection with the shooting Saturday, will be required to wear an ankle monitor and will not be allowed to return to the site of the shooting or directly or indirectly contact victims or their families as conditions of his bond. Price will be under house arrest but will be allowed to go to and from work, according to authorities. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, and a court appearance has been scheduled for June 9, according to court records. Fourteen people were injured during the shooting, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release Saturday. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 73. Police said the 73-year-old victim continues to receive medical treatment, but the other victims have been released from local hospitals or will be released shortly. Authorities don't believe the shooting was random, Holbrook said.
