PITTSBURGH, PA — At least 15 people were injured in a shooting on the city's North Side early Sunday. Two of the shooting victims, both juveniles, were killed. Police believe there were multiple shooters and are asking anyone with information to come forward, Chief Scott Schubert said at a news conference Sunday. No suspects have been named. The shooting occurred at a rental property in the 800 block of Suismon Street in East Allegheny just after 12:30 a.m., police said. The crime scene was chaotic. Police observed several people fleeing on foot and by vehicle. Authorities said a large party was being held at the short-term rental property, with as many as 200 people in attendance, many of them underage. Police received ShotSpotter alerts for at least 90 rounds being fired inside and around the home, prompting some party-goers to jump out the windows, sustaining injuries such as broken bones and lacerations. At least 10 people suffered gunshot wounds, including the two deceased victims. Another five people suffered injuries while escaping the rental property, according to police. Video of the shooting from inside the home showed people screaming while running out the door as sounds of gunfire could be heard. Authorities are processing evidence from as many as eight different crime scenes. Photos and video from KTAE showed nearby cars with bullet holes and shattered glass as well as a shattered glass door on a nearby medical facility. Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey offered his condolences to family and loved ones of the victims and thanked first responders for providing care to the victims in a statement Sunday morning. City officials will soon call a meeting with public safety and community leaders to introduce an "All In Citywide" approach to public safety. The initiative is the result of several weeks of work among city officials and will seek feedback in order to "build a path forward together," Gainey said. "It is critical that we come together now to help reduce the violence currently happening while we begin to do the long-term work of ending the culture of violence that is enabling the senseless loss of life we are experiencing today," Gainey said. "We must say no more and never again." City Councilman Bobby Wilson of District 1, where the shooting took place, also offered his condolences to the victims and their loved ones. "The mass shooting that occurred last night at an Airbnb party in East Deutschtown does not reflect that neighborhood at all," Wilson said. "I'm working with community leaders, the Pittsburgh Police, and the Office of Mayor Ed Gainey to find out what happened and bring those responsible to justice." Authorities urge people with information about the shooting to contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7161. Relevant videos, photos or other files can be uploaded at this link.
