ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst saw a jump in the number of new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department. As of Sunday, the city had seen 9,713 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 72 from a week before. That's higher than the previous week's 40. The city hit a weekly record of 599 in January. The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst increased by one in the last week, to 95. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1 percent.
