Feminist Flea & Grant Blvd Present: A Sustainable Marketplace

Events

121 N Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia PA

23 April, 2022

Description

“A Sustainable Marketplace” is a market curated by Feminist Flea Market & Craft Fair and sustainable fashion brand Grant Blvd, and sponsored by The Rounds, to imagine radical futures and regenerative forms of sustainability. With artists and businesses showcasing their local, ethically-produced wares and artworks, and forward-thinking groups hosting activations onsite, attendees can shop the market and pick up fresh ideas, too! Make your way to Cherry Street Pier on Saturday, April 23rd from 12:00-7:00 PM for A Sustainable Marketplace.
The 40+ vendors at this sustainability-focused market will feature plant-dyed natural fibers, handmade paper, repurposed thrift store finds, and more! These makers are reimagining what sustainability means for their craft—from process to product. As with other Feminist Flea events, A Sustainable Marketplace is by and for artists and makers marginalized for their gender, especially trans, non-binary and gender non-confirming people. Market-goers can feel good about what their “entry fee” covers; proceeds from the market will support The Urban Creators, a platform for radical and collaborative imagination that has used food, art, and education to nurture resilience and self-determination in North Central Philadelphia since 2010. Among other achievements, Urban Creators has revitalized over three acres of vacant land by seeding gardens and green spaces and provides fresh produce to hundreds of families per year. Life Do Grow, the Urban Creators-initiated off-grid Neighborhood Creative Commons, comprises an urban farm, public park, outdoor classroom, community marketplace, venue for artistic and cultural expression, and co-working/co-creation space for local businesses, artists, organizers, growers, healers, and creators. A Sustainable Marketplace will run from 12:00-7:00PM at Cherry Street Pier (121 N Christopher Columbus Blvd, 19106) on Saturday, April 23rd. There is a $5+ entry to pay when you arrive. Attendees are asked to wear masks while inside Cherry Street Pier, particularly if not vaccinated. Learn more about the market and vendors at www.feministflea.market.
