2 Displaced From Home After Fire In Naugatuck

NAUGATUCK, CT — A couple was displaced from their home after a fire Wednesday afternoon in Naugatuck, according to the Citizen's News. Crews responded to the fire around 1:55 p.m. on Rubber Avenue Extension. Arriving units found a "fire on the exterior that rapidly extended into the structure," according to fire officials. "Engine 4 stretched hose lines to knock down the fire and then made an aggressive interior attack," officials wrote in a post on Facebook. "The area of Rubber Ave does not have a public water supply. Tankers were dispatched from our neighboring communities of Beacon Falls, Oxford, Middlebury, Bethany and Seymour. There were a total of 7 tankers on scene, the fire was brought under control using 4 tankers, Oxford Car-1 was the water supply officer, Waterbury FD was also called and were staged at the NFD HQ. "Traffic was diverted around the scene by Naugatuck Volunteer Fire Police and the Naugatuck PD assisted with the tanker shuttle operation. On behalf of the NFD thank you to all of the responding agencies for their collaborative effort." The Citizen's News reports the two residents and their two dogs made it out of the home safely before firefighters arrived.
