Description

Dust off your binoculars and go behind-the-scenes at the Lower Wapato Creek habitat mitigation project, led by our Port Biologist! Join Jenn, the Port of Tacoma’s biologist, for a walking tour Friday, April 22 around the Port's Lower Wapato Creek habitat mitigation site. The striking property features nearly 20 acres of estuary, wetlands, and forested buffer to help increase the diversity and density of fish, bird, and other wildlife. This will be a rare opportunity to walk the site and learn more about the project. By popular demand, we are now conducting five tours that day: 9-10 a.m.10:30-11:30 a.m.12-1 p.m.1:30-2 p.m.3-4 p.m.Each tour will last approximately one hour and can accommodate 10 people. We will meet at the parking lot of the nearby Fabulich Center, and then proceed together via Port vehicle to the site. The terrain is relatively flat and won’t require strenuous activity. It does, however, have tripping hazards so please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. We will walk, rain or shine! Cameras and binoculars are recommended. Since it is a habitat site, there are no on-site restrooms available. Questions? Please email [email protected].
