Discover how a one-time Baptist preacher and church planter became an atheist The Secular Humanists of Western Lake Erie will welcome former evangelical preacher turned atheist Bruce Gerencser for our monthly meeting at the Sanger Library Branch, 3030 Central Ave, Toledo, at 7 PM Tuesday April 19th, 2022. Bruce pastored Evangelical churches for twenty-five years in Ohio, Texas, and Michigan. Bruce left the ministry in 2005, and in 2008 he left Christianity. Bruce is now a humanist and an atheist. Bruce lives in rural Northwest Ohio with his wife of 43 years. He and his wife have six grown children and thirteen grandchildren. His website "The Life And Times Of Bruce Gerencser" is riveting for his tales of being an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist pastor, cautionary as he explains in detail how interpretations of the Bible are used to support and expand a patriarchal society, and hopeful as Bruce documents his journey to freethought.
